Cool off Spots near Williamsport

Your guide to local pools, splash pads, and State Parks.

It is officially summer! Time to soak up the sun, enjoy picnics, visit amusement parks, try some hiking, and figure out how to stay cool.  Macaroni KID Williamsport rounded up the areas BEST swimming pools, splash pads and State Parks.  Check out these areas to "cool off" and enjoy some time with your family!

Local Swimming Pools

There are several local swimming pools with lifeguards on duty.  Most have kiddie pools for the littles and fun things for the teens!  Check out our areas pools. 

🥽Loyalsock Community Swimming Pool

A beautiful swimming pool.  There is a separate kiddy pool, a ramp leading into the shallow end of the big pool, and two diving boards.  There are even TWO water slides!  A fun place to spend a hot day!  Check their website for pricing and hours. 

 Pricing: Resident-$6.00 (ages 12 and up); $5.00 (children 2-11); Free children under 2; 

Pricing: Non-Resident-$8.00 (ages 12 and up); $7.00 (ages 2-11); Free children under 2

🌤️Muncy Swimming Pool

A nice swimming pool located in the town of Muncy.  Located near the Elementary School is this fun spot!  They have a kiddie pool and a big pool.  The pool also offers slides and a diving board.  This pool doesn't open until June 16th!  Check out their Facebook page for hours, season passes and updates! 

Pricing: $6.00; 3 and under Free

🥽Lewisburg Swimming Pool

A little bit of a drive, but this pool is worth the drive!  Located near the BVRA park at 218 North 15th Street. This park boasts two slides-one spiral and one straight!  A fun place that kids of all ages will enjoy!  Check out their website for hours and season passes.  

Pricing: $5.00 day pass

🌤️Splash Cove Pool-Williamsport

Head to Williamsport for this fun community pool.  Located across form Historic Bowman Field, you will find this fun spot!  There is a kiddie section with fixtures that spray and pour water on kids along with a small slide to entertain the littles.  The main pool has a bigger slide that is open on and off throughout the day along with a diving board for the bigger kids and kids at heart!  Enjoy a snack or two at the concession stand when hunger strikes.  

Pricing: $5.00 adults; $3.00 for 3 and up; $3.00 for seniors

🥽Jersey Shore Pool

The Jersey Shore Pool is a great place to head on a hot day.  Open daily from 12:00-6:00.  The pool has adult swim daily from 11:00 am-12:00 pm.  This pool also offers a Caregiver and Me time slot for caregivers and their toddlers-daily from 11:00-12:00.  It costs a $1.00 for the caregiver!  How nice is that?  Check it out! 

Pricing: Ages 6 and up $5.00; Ages 2-5 $3.00; Seniors $1.50; Kids under 2 Free

🌤️Exchange Pool

The Exchange Pool is a non profit organization that was founded in 1976 when a group of local property owners raised funds to build the community public swimming pool.  A family-oriented public community pool run by the Northern Montour Recreation Association.  Located in Turbotville is this wonderful pool.   The main pool has plenty of room for splashing and having fun.  Currently, the kiddie pool is closed. 

Pricing: $6.00 (Adults 18 and over); $5.00 (17 and under); Free for children 2 and under

🥽Sunbury Community Pool

Conveniently located behind the Weis Markets and YMCA on Fourth Street in Sunbury.  The pool has two elevated water slides, a rock wall, water basketball nets, a kiddie pool, and a water mushroom for the enjoyment of their patrons, the pool is a great place to spend the day with your family or relax after a long day of work. Surrounding the pool is an assortment of lounge chairs, deck chairs, and benches so that parents can watch their little ones from a safe distance.  There is a concession stand with tasty snacks as well.

Pricing: $6.00 (6 and up); Free (5 and under)

🌤️ Hyner Run State Park

Hyner Run carves a small valley from the surrounding steep mountains, creating a cozy, quiet place for outdoor adventures.  Located just north of Lock Haven in North Bend.  Admission is free to the large swimming pool and wading pool. The pools are open 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, unless otherwise posted.  This is one of the areas best kept secrets!  Pack a lunch and make a day of it!


Splash Pads

A fun, free way for kids to keep cool is to visit a park that offer a splash pad. 

💦Oppenheimer Playground

Oppenheimer Pleasure Grounds known simply as OPG is Sunbury's flagship playground attracting families and kids from across the region. It features a splash pad, slides, swings, and climbing equipment. Playground staff and volunteers organize games, crafts, and other fun activities. A ballfield is also located nearby. 

*Note: this splash pad is currently not working, but they have sprinklers to help beat the heat. 


State Parks

North-Central PA has many state parks that feature lakes and sandy beaches along with waterfalls, hiking trails, camping, picnicking, fishing and much more for FREE!  Some of the parks have swimming areas where you can swim at your own risk.  Be sure to pack a lunch and make a day of your time at one of these wonderful parks.  All are a drive from the Williamsport Area, but so worth it!  

  • Lake Jean in Rickett's Glen State Park
    • The 600-foot beach is open from late-May to mid-September, from 8:00 A.M. until sunset.  A food and refreshment concession, boat rental, and picnic facilities are nearby.  Swim at your own risk.
  • R.B. Winter State Park
    • The swimming beach features 300 feet of white sand and is open from late-May to mid-September, 8:00 A.M. until sunset.  The beach area includes: Restrooms, Dressing facilities, Beach volleyball court, Children’s play area.  Swim at your own risk.
  • Bald Eagle State Park
    • Bald Eagle State Park has a 1,200-foot-long sand and turf beach which includes: Children’s playground, Changing rooms, Public restrooms, Parking.  The swimming area is open from 8:00 A.M. - sunset, Memorial Day to Labor Day, unless otherwise posted. Swim at your own risk.
  • World's End State Park
    • A small dam on Loyalsock Creek forms a swimming area that is open from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, sunrise to sunset. The mountain stream water is always cold and exhilarating.
      Swim at your own risk. Please read and follow posted rules for swimming.
  • Little Pine State Park
    • A sand beach with grass turf is open from late-May to mid-September, 8:00 A.M. to sunset.
      Swim at your own risk.  There are changing rooms, public restrooms and parking.  
  • Ole Bull State Park
    • The beach is in Camping Area #1 across from the picnic area. Park in the picnic area lot.
      The 150-foot sandy beach along Kettle Creek is open from late-May to mid-September, 8:00 A.M. until sunset.
      Swim at your own risk.
