Description
This program will include a trail walk to discuss how forests benefit all Pennsylvanians and observe forestry management practices that woodlot owners could implement on their own properties. The tour will visit various sites, including a chestnut planting, a white oak woods and a deer exclosure, among other locations. We'll discuss a variety of topics, including the importance of promoting species diversity, the threats posed by non-native invasive species, the significance of forest structure, and the value of native plants and trees for our forest environment, among other topics.
This event is presented by the Central Susquehanna Woodland Owners Association (CSWOA), with support by the Columbia County Conservation District and the Montour Area Recreation Commission.
The walk is about 1 mile in length over gentle terrain. The event will be held rain or shine. Bring your family!
