My mom has always loved to express herself and has been gifted with a unique eye for potential. From the time she was twelve, working part-time at a local thrift store and taking home thrifted treasures instead of cash, to the beautiful weddings she coordinated in her twenties, to the thought and care she has put into every detail of her home, she is a designer, an organizer, and a creative. In search of ways to make extra money to begin the adoption process for a toddler from China, my mom used these skills to birth an idea that would change not only her life but the lives of the community around her.
Common Threads Consignment, her brainchild, held its first event in the spring of 2014 in a small event venue in Brook Park Farms in Lewisburg, PA. There were twenty consignors and four hundred items. Hours of research, months of planning, advertising, and learning new skills were put into the launch of this business. Now, ten years later, she has touched the lives of thousands of people who have found quality and affordable kids' items to support their growing families. Common Threads has grown into Common Threads Events LLC, with three hundred families, forty-five thousand items, and a second event location launching this year in Williamsport, PA.
As Chrissy's daughter, I had the privilege of watching the ups and downs, the doubts, the tears, and the growth of this business. I learned what it looks like to have a dream and work tirelessly for its fruition. When she began, I was eleven, the eldest child of our family of six. I am now twenty-one, and for ten years, my mom was a role model of hard work, a molder of potential, and a community builder. She is my inspiration, this woman who coordinates an A-list kids' pop-up consignment event for the community, helping local families make money and donating thousands of kids' clothing, toys, baby equipment, and books to local charities.
The Common Threads event draws moms together to support one another by sharing their kids' gently used items for affordable prices to help provide encouragement and growth for families of all sizes at all stages. When you have children, a privilege I have not yet experienced, finding the support you need during the formative growing years can be challenging. My mom strives to do more than sell, organize, or advertise her event. She wants to help. To nurture, encourage, and embrace those growing years so that other moms feel that they can do the same.
As a daughter, a sister, and hopefully a future mom, I know that outside of the business aspect of this kids' consignment event, there has been a community grown, nurtured, and cherished. These are the common threads that bind us.
The Consignors' Perspective:
As a consignor with Common Threads Events LLC, I am so thankful for the opportunity to sell my items and purchase items. Chrissy has brought an AMAZING sale to our communities for 10 years! I wish I would have learned of this sale a lot earlier than 2019 when I first started consigning. There is so much more to this sale than meets the eye. If you haven’t shopped at one of the sales, I encourage you to get out to one. You won’t be disappointed. It is also a great opportunity to sell your items. I highly recommend being a consignor. You won’t regret it! My husband LOVES these sales because we clear the house of all the unused kids’ items and plus I get to clean out my closet in the process too! It is truly an AMAZING sale and you should join the fun.

I would HIGHLY recommend attending Common Threads Consignment Sales. They have a huge variety of items including toys, puzzles, games, sporting goods, outdoor items, infant equipment, shoes, clothes, and more! Not only will you find clothing and shoes for the babies and kids, they also have women's clothing and shoes as well. I am always so AMAZED at the quality of items and the great deals that are available. I encourage you to check it out for yourself.
I have been a consigning at Common Threads for years and I have consistently done really well. Chrissy and her team are PHENOMENAL to work with as a consigner. She is so organized and so great to work with. The success of the sales are evident as she continues to grow in size and she recently added a new location. Come shop! Come Sell! You won't be disappointed.
