Business Spotlight: The Green Barn Berry Farm

Our Favorite Berry Farm!

By Nicole Hickoff-Macaroni KID Williamsport Publisher August 10, 2022

If you live in or around Williamsport, you know there are only a few Pick-Your-Own fruit farms in the area.  But, did you know that the BEST one is right here in Muncy?

Are you wondering what place that is?  Well... it is the Green Barn Berry Farm of course!

What makes the Green Barn Berry Farm so special are the owners and family members that work there.  They are the sweetest people and make every trip there memorable.

Robyn and Jarod Schreiber are the owners of the Green Barn Berry Farm.  Robyn is the third generation to live and work on the farm.  Their children, Mason, Mitchell, and Margot, are the fourth generation.

Both Robyn's dad, Ralph and her Uncle, Carl grew up on the farm.  You will still find them each and every day working on the land that they call home!  Ralph and Carl's bond with the farm runs deep.

Ralph's wife, Cathy Styer, works in the market along side Jarod's parents, Terry and Linda Schreiber. Robyn says that each one of us has a gift, a job on the farm.  Cathy, Terry and Linda are AMAZING with those who visit the farm.

We can't forget to mention the honorary family members and the four-legged member!  The Green Barn Berry Farm wouldn't be what they are today without the help of others. Ben Marino, Bradley Leon, Peyton Hartman, the Gaab family, Mark Shifflet, and Barb Danko all help with the farm.    Coco, the family dog, is always there and ready to greet visitors (this is my kiddos favorite "family member" to see)!

When you visit the farm you are sure to see one of these talented and friendly people.  They are the heart and soul of the Green Barn Berry Farm.  They are what brings people back year after year.

The Green Barn Berry Farm is a little over 100 acres of land.  Before the farm became known for their berries and pumpkins, they grew mostly potatoes and produce.  Robyn's grandparents, Ralph and Edna Styer, moved to the farm in 1954 with their 6 children.  Besides produce and potatoes, they also raised chickens for meat and eggs in the barn.
As years passed on, Ralph and Edna decided to downsize the farm and planted a few acres of blueberry bushes while growing strawberries as well.  The community loved it so much that they continued and that is how we got the Green Barn Berry Farm.  (Interesting Fact: The same plants are on the farm today and are 45 years old!)

Berries aren't the only thing that this farm has to offer. Besides berries, you can call the farm to get some other wonderful local produce.  They offer green bell peppers, hot Hungarian waxed peppers, sweet corn, cucumbers, and tomatoes.  All of which are pre-order only.   They are also known for their pumpkin patch in the fall!

The Green Barn Berry Farm is my families MOST FAVORITE place to pick berries and get our pumpkins.  The number one reason we love this place is for the experience.  Robyn and her family make it such an enjoyable experience.

When you arrive to pick your own berries, you will be greeted by a family member and shown where to park. Once you park, you head to the barn and get your bucket.  During berry picking time, you will be asked what types of berries you are picking and then directed on where to start and what to expect with the berries.  The farm is absolutely beautiful and you feel right at home.  After you pick your berries, you head to the barn to get weighed and pay.  At the barn you will see other offerings, like cookies, homemade jam, mustard, and more! After paying enjoy the scenery and take some photos.  They have two GIANT strawberries and a tractor to get your family photos in!  My kiddos always look forward to the giant strawberries.

I must say that the berries here are AMAZING!  I am not a big fan of blueberries or raspberries, but these berries are so good!  Not like what you get in the store.  Another reason we love the Green Barn Berry Farm is because of their saying: "Two for you, one for the bucket".  My kids take that literally and enjoy tasting a few berries.  There is nothing like a fresh picked berry!

I know it is only August, but Fall is right around the corner and the Green Barn Berry Farm will soon be preparing for their fall season on the farm.  Pumpkin Season is where we fell in love with the Green Barn Berry Farm.  We hadn't been to any pumpkin patches until our twins were one.  We looked at all the places around us and decided that the Green Barn Berry Farm was the place to go.  Boy, were we glad we did.  We have been going back ever since and the past two years we have gone multiple times!

One thing that I love about it here is the sense of family.  When you come to the farm you feel like you belong there.  You don't feel like just another person picking a pumpkin.  There is just enough to do and look at.  My kids, husband and I always enjoy the hayride out to the pumpkin patch.  They recently updated their wagons so that more people can sit on one at a time.  The kids always enjoy looking for that special pumpkin and we always take home 2 extra because they can't decide!

Besides the hayride to the patch, they have a Sorghum maze and farm animals to enjoy.  The maze is so much fun and for me, as a parent, I like that I can see over the crop to locate my kiddos as they now always run a head of me.  The farm animals are always fun to look at. The Green Barn Berry Farm is a wonderful place to visit and the fall it is even better!  We always enjoy walking around and seeing the beautiful farm decorated for the fall season.  There are many photo opportunities available from cute pumpkin signs to tractors to pose in front of, you are sure to find that perfect spot to snap a memory.

If you are looking for a place to pick berries or pumpkins or pick up some fresh produce, be sure to stop by the Green Barn Berry Farm and say hi to Robyn and the family!
