Last week, Macaroni Kid Williamsport recommended great destinations to take the kids to! This week we are recommending things to do in the evening! Summer offers long evenings with later bedtimes and plenty of daylight hours.
📽️ 1. Go to a drive-in movie!
Check out a movie at the Pike Drive-in in Montogomery. They offer 3 screens to enjoy a movie on. There is always a family-friendly choice to choose from. Click here to see what movies are playing. **Pricing: $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for Children 6-17, Free for children under 5.
🐞 2. Catch lightning bugs!
A fun summer activity and there are plenty of lightning bugs out and about! Be sure to place them in a jar with holes or in a bug box! Let the littlest ones stay up late!
🌠 3. Star Gaze
A fun activity for all. You don't even need a telescope to enjoy the night sky! Want to see as many stars as possible? Head to Cherry Springs State Park to check out one of the BEST places on the Eastern seaboard for stargazing: check out the Milkyway, planets, and hard-to-see astronomical objects and phenomena.
🥫 4. Play a Kick the Can
Do you remember playing Kick the Can as a kid? I sure do! We often played in the evening to make it more fun. Don't know how to play kick the can? It is simple. Get a can, fill it with rocks or rice or something else, then place in an open spot. Playing the games tag, hide-n-seek, and capture the flag.
🏕️ 5. Backyard Campout
Unpack the tent and set it up in your backyard, outside space, or even inside your house! Make some s'mores and enjoy a camp out at home! Kids of all ages will enjoy this. You can even challenge your tweens and teens to go tech-free for the night! That's right, have them put their phones and tablets away!
