Having taught for over 10 years, I know the hard work and dedication of being a teacher! Flash forward to the past year and a half; teaching definitely has changed and became even more challenging. Hats off to the AMAZING teachers out there who have gone above and beyond with teaching during a pandemic!
Kids setting butterflies free!
Teaching is a selfless job. They don't do it for the paycheck; they do it for the children or adolescents in their classrooms! These professionals get up every day and head into school or log in to their virtual classroom regardless of all the challenges they might be facing. They continue to show up, smile and deliver AMAZING lessons that will help engage and inspire their students.
We all have a teacher that we can say made a difference! I have several, but I will mention two of them. One was my high school band teacher. He expected us to do our best, didn't settle for less than great, and taught me so much more than how to play an instrument. Then, there is my Geography teacher/Vice Principal/Boss (yes, I worked for a former teacher of mine and had to interview in front of him). He also expected me to do my best and strive to be a great teacher; after all, I had him as a role model!

I want to honor those teachers that have made a difference. I want to show appreciation to ALL the teachers for their hard work in educating the future minds of tomorrow. They have had one blinger of a year and a half. They had to stop teaching in the classroom last year and switch to a new form of teaching, one which they were never prepared to do. Then, this year many started in a virtual classroom and then moved back to in-person teaching, but not their "normal" way of in-person teaching. Gone were the hugs, the shoulder taps, the high fives. In their place were masks, 6 feet apart messages, and no smiling faces to welcome kiddos back.
Our teachers sure have been through a lot, and I think they deserve to be celebrated! That is why Macaroni Kid and 9 other businesses have teamed up to show our appreciation of the hard-working teachers in Lycoming County.
