You don't have to travel far to enjoy a great getaway with your family

Feel the need to get away but want to stay close to home because of the pandemic? We get it! So we've rounded up five great staycation ideas for the Williamsport area. Whether you want to get away overnight or just for a day trip close to Williamsport, here are five ways to enjoy a family staycation within a short drive of Williamsport, PA.


1. Enjoy some fresh air

Need a break from the hustle and bustle?  Head to one of several state parks and rent a cabin.  World's End State Park is a short drive and offers several cabins to rent.  At just $50.00 per night, this is a great way to get away and enjoy the woods but still have the comforts of home.

2. Book a Romantic Night

Call the grandparents or find a babysitter!  Enjoy a romantic night or two at the City Hall Grand Hotel.  A beautiful building and gorgeous rooms await you at this Williamsport gem!

3. Enjoy a Mountain Experience

Head to Happy Acres Resort.  Nestled in the Pine Creek Valley, just a 40 minute drive from Williamsport, is this mountain resort.  Take in the sights of Little Pine Creek or enjoy one of the delicious restaurants.  There are cabins to rent or you can choose to stay in the Big Pine Hotel.

4. Check out Local Museums

Did you know that Williamsport has several museums?!  Well, they do and they all have exciting exhibits and things to look at.  From the Thomas T. Taber Museum to the Peter Herdic Transportation Museum, there is something for everyone!

5. Visit Eagles Mere

A quaint, little town to visit all seasons, Eagles Mere is the place to go and only a 45-minute drive from Williamsport.  Home of the Toboggan Run (currently not operating), Eagles Mere Air Museum, and several shops.  Eagles Mere is a place to visit.  Plan a weekend getaway or visit for the day!
