It seems everyone in the Williamsport area is looking for ways to get out of the house this winter! Fresh air is good for the soul — not to mention it helps to get the wiggles out of the kids.

We put together a list to help you find fun things to do this winter with your family in Williamsport (or just a short drive away!) during these next few winter months in Williamsport, Pennslyvania:

1. Go Skiing at Ski Sawmill Resort

A great place to head to ski in our area. They have 12 slopes and 4 lifts.  Unfortunately, the snow tubing area is not open. Check out their website for more information and pricing details.  Kids ski free on the 15th and ladies ski free on the 19th of February.  Click here!

Hours: M/W-Closed; TUE/THUR/FRI-1:00-9:00 pm; SAT-9:00 am-9:00 pm; SUN-9:00 am-5:00 pm

2. Visit a State Park

Visit one of the state parks in our area.  Check out DCNR's website for road conditions and park conditions. Many parks offer cross country skiing.  Hiking in the winter can be "snow much" fun!  Our favorite park to head to is World's End State Park or R.B. Winter State Park.

Hours: Dawn to Dusk

3. Go Ice Skating at BVRA

Head to the Lewisburg Ice Rink and go ice skating.  Open in the evenings when the ice is suitable.  Be sure to check their website and Facebook page for details and hours.  Ice skate rentals available.

Hours (ideally): M-F: 4:00-7:00 pm; Sat/Sun: 1:00-7:00 pm

Rentals: $5.00

4. Stargaze in your backyard

Pick a clear night and bundle up to head outside.  Look up in the evening sky, and look for constellations, the moon, or even some planets.  Check out the best constellations for the winter months!  Winter is a great time to view the evening sky.

Hours: Best Stargazing time is the days before, during, and after each new moon.

5. Go Ice Fishing at Rose Valley Lake

Grab your fishing pole or ice fishing rig and head to Rose Valley Lake.  A fun day on the ice can create great memories.  Pack a lunch and some warm clothes.  *Click here for an ice thickness chart.

6. Have a picnic at Dry Run Pavillion (Loyalsock State Forest)

Pack a lunch and head out Route 87 to Dry Run Road.  Take a right onto the road and go about a mile or so till you see the picnic area.  Beautiful area to enjoy a winter picnic and some time in nature.  Depending on the roads, you can head up to the High Knob Lookout.  Check out DCNR's website for more information.

Hours: Open Dawn to Dusk; Check website for road conditions.

7. Build a campfire and make S'mores

Great winter activity for the family!  All you need is some wood and a place to have your campfire.  Bring the ingredients to make S'mores and even the fussiest people will enjoy the cold! Check out this article on how to build the perfect campfire!

Enjoy any day at your house.
