7 Free Things to Do in Williamsport, PA

Who is looking for some fun, family-friendly activities to do in Williamsport, PA?  My kids and I are always looking for fun, free things to do in Williamsport, PA, so I wanted to gather a list of free things to do.  Free things are always the best kind of fun!  

All the suggestions take place outdoors, so be sure to bundle up!  My kids love the outdoors and so do I.  It is so much fun doing things as a family outside. It really helps to get that trapped energy out and allows everyone to burn off some stink!  







1. Montour Preserve

Be sure to check out Montour Preserve.  We love heading here any time of year.  There is so much to see and do at this wonderful gem located between Turbotville and Danville.  Who knew there was a fossil pit right in our backyard!  Pack a lunch and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. 2. The Susquehanna River Walk and Timber Trail

Location: Near Williamsport

Enjoy a brisk walk or a leisurely stroll along the Susquehanna River Walk and Timber Trail.  Head into Williamsport and park to enjoy this wonderful trail. Walk, run or bike along the path and enjoy sights and sounds of the river and town.  The trail is accessible and paved.  Great for bikes, strollers or your two feet! 3. Visit the Muncy Heritage Park

Location: Pepper Street, Muncy, PA 17756

A unique place to visit in the Muncy Area.  Take a walk around the pound and explore the nature trails.  There are also several historical sites to see and explore including the Historical Double Canal Lock and Historical Canal: Fisher Archaeology Site.  Take a walk over to the river and explore the shores.  Depending on the time of year, you could be lucky and see a fisher! 4. Visit Rider Park

A wonderful park with lots of things to do.  This park was gift to the residents of Lycoming County by the late Thomas J. Rider. 5. World’s End State Park

A wonderful park to head to for a day trip, or in warmer months stay the weekend and camp!  We love this park.  It is along the Loyalsock Creek and offers many hiking trails, a playground, and a breathtaking vista.  We enjoy this park all seasons and fun is always had when we are here. 6. Lime Bluff Recreational Park

Come check out another favorite park of ours.  This is located in Hughesville.  It is a beautiful park with lots of walking trails and places to run.  They even have a disc golf course!  Fun is sure to be had here.  Enjoy the pavilions, horseshoe pits, bocce ball court, and countless areas to play and explore!







7. Nature Walk 

Location: Your favorite place to head for a walk

One of my kids’ favorite activities is to go for a nature walk.  We head out to the field behind our house or head on down the street.  Be sure to take a bucket to collect nature treasures (nature treasures are any object found in nature).  My kids enjoy looking for fun nature treasures and keeping them to examine and create with later.  Join one of my two favorite Facebook groups about getting outside: Outdoor Play Muncy or #OutdoorsAll4 by Tinkergarten.
