‘Have a Catch’ in Lamade Stadium This Father’s Day

Visitors are invited to play catch on the outfield grass of Lamade Stadium on Sunday, June 18.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (June 6, 2017) – This Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, the World of Little League®: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store, located at 525 U.S. 15, will be offering its visitors a unique opportunity to play catch on the outfield grass of Howard J. Lamade Stadium, the home of the Little League Baseball® World Series. As part of the event, all fathers will also receive free admission to the Museum.

For the fourth-straight year, all fathers (and mothers) who tour the World of Little League Museum on Father’s Day will be invited to play catch with their children from noon to 3 p.m. inside Lamade Stadium. Parents are required to sign waivers and all participants must have a ticket from visiting the Museum that Sunday to gain entrance to the field. Participants should bring their own gloves. Baseball bats are NOT allowed.

To commemorate the event, a limited edition collector’s “slider ball” pin of Dugout and a person playing catch will be offered at a discount to attendees.

Along with the Father’s Day event, the World of Little League Museum is also participating in the National Blue Star Museums Program, a nationwide program that opens more than 2,000 museums at no cost to veterans and active military personnel with proper identification. 

Last summer, about 900,000 military families visited participating Blue Star Museums. This year, Blue Star Families is hoping to reach 1 million. The Blue Star Museum program operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Sept. 4; however, the World of Little League Museum also offers free admission for veterans every day.

The Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day of the week. General admission for the Museum is only $5. Children ages 5-12 are admitted for $2, and Seniors 62 and older are admitted for $3. Children 4 and younger are free, as well as any Little Leaguer® wearing a uniform shirt that includes the Little League®Patch.
