2017 Summer Reading Programs and Rewards!

Find a way to help encourage your kids to keep reading!

School's out for SUMMER!! Time for swimming, bike riding, playing with friends, and family vacations. But there is one other very important thing kids should do so they don't fall behind for the next school year - READ!!  These businesses and local libraries know that it's not always easy to get your kids to read over the summer, so they are offering fun incentives to help!  Please check back often for updates as not all have totally finished planning and more information will be added soon!  


LYCOMING COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAMS  -  Follow link to get details on ALL summer reading programs.


Hughesville Area Public Library - Elementary readers can stop by and register for the Summer Reading ProgramRead for 15 - 20 minutes each day for at least 5 days per week. Bring your reading log in and receive a prize for each week you meet the goal. Teens can also read and qualify for prizes or just come enjoy the special teen events throughout the summer.

James V. Brown Library - The Summer Reading Program is open to readers of all ages with programs, prize drawings, story times, a teen and adult reading club, and more. Families are invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program. Readers will receive a reading log to record the titles and minutes they have read throughout the summer based on age level. Registration for the Summer Reading program is June 5th - 30th. Readers will hand in their reading log to be eligible for prizes from August 1st-25th. 

Jersey Shore Public Library - On Your Mark, Get Set...Read! Early registration event on Friday, June 16th from 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm. Kickoff performance June 22nd at 6:30 pm featuring the Moreland the Magician. Read books you like, attend programs, earn tickets, and attempt to WIN some great prizes in our end of the summer prize drawing! (Adult summer reading programs as well!)

Montgomery Public Library - Summer Reading programs have started. All programs require registration, stop by the library to register. Programs held at the library on Wednesdays at 2 PM, more information can be found on the Macaroni Kid event calendar or click the link to view the website.

Montoursville Public Library - Summer Reading program runs from June 2nd until August 5th. All programs require registration. The library will offer small weekly prizes for children who visit regularly. The children can earn tickets for a chance to win Super Prizes such as Lego kits, art supplies, sleeping bags, gift cards and more. Teens can earn special age-appropriate Super Prizes.

Muncy Area Public Library - Stop by the Muncy Public Library to get registered for the Summer Reading Program and to pick up a calendar of events. Programs include crafts, games, sports, special story times and more! Turn in your completed reading log after August 12th to receive your prizes. For ages infant through teen.


RESTAURANT and BUSINESS READING PROGRAMS

BAM (Books A Million)Choose 3 books from the Summer Reading Adventure section, read the 3 books and record in your log, show your completed log to get a free James Paterson Middle School lunch bag.

Chuck E Cheese – When kids read every day for two weeks, they can earn 10 free tokens at Chuck E Cheese!  Print off this Rewards Calendar, mark off every day, and bring it into Chuck E Cheese to redeem tokens.  Child must be present and food purchase is required.  A beverage does not qualify as a food purchase.  The offer extends through the end of 2016.  More information with rewards calendars can be found here.

The Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge - a free online reading program for children that runs through September 8th, 2017. After registering, kids are to read as many minutes as they can, log their minutes and earn rewards.
